Show 2023: “Passion and Glory (1916- 1936)”
This year, the Bridiers Historical Fresco presents its 17th edition with the theme “Passion and Glory (1916-1936)”.
The focus revolves around an exceptional athlete from Dorat, Joseph Guillemot. Guillemot’s remarkable achievements include winning the French military championship in the 5,000m in Colombes in 1918 and securing a gold medal in the 5,000m at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp.
The show beautifully narrates Guillemot’s journey, covering two eventful decades from 1916 to 1936. His heroism on the battlefield of Verdun and subsequent recognition with the Croix de Guerre, along with his sporting triumphs at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, are showcased. The performance captures the essence of universal values like work, land, friendship, effort, solidarity, and sport, as it transitions from the Great War to the Roaring Twenties, and from rural life to the advent of paid holidays. This particular show has even received the prestigious Cultural Olympiads label from Paris 2024.
